Beach Ball Juggling
We sometimes begin a class with beach ball juggling. In addition to being fun, this is a great way to warm up and to get loose. Beach Ball juggling is very easy to learn and is great for partner juggling. It would make a wonderful family activity or a fun activity for all ages at a party.
Traditional Toss Juggling
This can be done with one, two, or three balls or bean bags. Bean bags are usually favored because they don’t roll away when dropped and they feel good in your hand. We begin with simple one-ball exercises. Then we move on to various two-ball exercises and finally to the three-ball cascade. Even if a student does not succeed in doing a three-ball cascade during the class, all of the benefits from juggling will still be realized. For students who master the three-ball cascade, many variations of three-ball juggling can be taught, along with juggling two balls with one hand.
Bounce juggling at Juggling Dog Fitness is usually taught with racket balls. All of these exercises involve bouncing one or more balls off the floor. Some of these exercises are done individually and some are done in pairs. For many people bounce juggling is easier than traditional toss juggling.
Chair Juggling (Not Juggling Chairs!)
Students who cannot stand for any length of time can juggle (toss or bounce) from a sitting position. Bounce juggling can be done in a chair using a slanted board that was built for this purpose.
Club Juggling (really juggling clubs!)
For very fast learners, club juggling can be taught. Although much harder than toss juggling with balls or bags, it is great fun, especially when passing back and forth with a partner.
Juggling Combined with Fitness Exercises
For students who desire a more challenging workout, juggling exercises can be combined with traditional fitness exercises such as balancing on one leg or on a balance board, squats, and lunges. An aerobic component can also be combined with some juggling exercises. You may be able to imagine what “joggling” looks like!
This form of juggling involves two hand-sticks and a flower stick (a round stick with a leather “flower” at each end). The flower stick is manipulated in many interesting ways, both simple and complicated, using the two hand-sticks. It is great fun and great exercise.
